Portrait of Cartoonist Arnold Roth in his Manhattan art studio photographed by Greg Preston

Happy 92nd Birthday to Legendary Cartoonist Arnold Roth, February 25!

Thursday, January 25th, sending Happy 92nd Birthday Wishes to Legendary Cartoonist Arnold Roth, That's today!

"Arnold Roth wanted to be a cartoonist for as long as he can remember. However, his other passion, namely jazz saxophone, has had a profound influence on his artistic style. He is an improviser who enjoys working without a pre-penciled lifeline. His coloring is soft and mellow like the smoothest of jazz. Subtle visual flourishes abound, emphasizing his virtuosity. Indeed, Roth's inner-jazzman is probably the biggest reason for his success.

Roth began drawing as a freelancer in 1951 and has been doing so ever since. Over the years he has contributed to Playboy, GQ, Time, The New Yorker, Esquire, and many others. He's done his share or political cartoons. He's illustrated book jackets (and full books). He's done album covers. In fact, wherever there is an empty space of glossy paper, Roth has probably left his mark at one time or another. Roth Currently lives in Manhattan, New York with his wife Caroline and continues to produce outstanding freelance art"-the artist within

This is a portrait that we had the chance to make in Arnolds' Manhattan studio a number of years ago, this is where the magic happens, have a look around.

Happy Birthday Arnie!
