Happy Tuesday! One day at a time, right? Let's get through this!
May 19th, and sending Happy Birthday wishes to Comic Book Artist/ Illustrator Steve Leiber!
You may know that Steve studied cartooning at The Kubert School and his "comics and illustrations have been published by DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image Comics, Dupuis, Scholastic, Penguin, and many others, on properties like Batman, Superman, Hellboy, Star Trek, and Road to Perdition. He's best known for his work on Superior Foes of Spider-man at Marvel and Whiteout at Oni Press. He's currently drawing The Fix at Image Comics. His various projects have received nine Eisner Award nominations, and he won the Eisner for Best Limited Series for Whiteout volume 2: Melt. Whiteout was made into a feature film at Warner Bros. starring Kate Beckinsale."
I just love this quote that Steve provided for "The Artist Within", some nice advice:
"It can take a while to find your style. Just keep asking yourself questions about the story you're telling. The answers will push your work. When you haven't gone far enough, you'll look at what you've drawn and feel inarticulate, cowardly, and lame. When you've gone too far, you'll feel tawdry, exhibitionistic, and lame. If all is going well, you won't choose your style, it will eventually choose you." yep!
"Steve's clients as a commercial artist include Microsoft, The Gap, UPS, The Oregon Lottery, GE, Adidas, Nike and Dove. He's been a featured guest of international comic art festivals in the USA, Canada, France, Algeria, Mexico, and Spain. Steve also writes a monthly column for Comic Con International on the art, craft and business of comics."-Helioscope website
