Made it to another Monday, How goes it? I hope you all are staying safe out there! I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to Amazing Cartoonist/ Comic Book Artist Stan Sakai, that's today May 25th! You may know that "Stan Sakai was born in Kyoto, Japan, grew up in Hawaii, and currently lives in California. But did you know that "Stan began his career by lettering comic books as he perfected his art and began working in the industry, He also wrote and illustrated The Adventures of Nilson Groundthumper and Hermy; a comic series with a medieval setting, influenced by Sergio Aragones's Groo the Wanderer. The characters first appeared in Albedo #1 in 1984, and were subsequently featured in issues of Critters, GrimJack, Amazing Heroes and Furrlough." -stansakai.com
"Stan became famous with the creation of Usagi Yojimbo, the epic saga of Miyamoto Usagi, a samurai rabbit living in late-sixteenth and early-seventeenth century Japan"
In case you didn't know “Usagi Yojimbo” literally means “Rabbit Bodyguard” in Japanese. The series follows Usagi, a ronin (unemployed samurai) rabbit in an anthromophized 17th century Japan. That is about all you need to know to start enjoying the stories." -IDW
"Usagi Yojimbo, first appeared in 1984, and has been on television as a guest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as toys, on clothing, in comics, and in a series of trade paperback collections".
